Duck Soup

Sam Irwin started his musical career in the early 1960's, and continued to play in several bands while attending college at the University of St. Thomas in Houston, Texas. One of those bands, The Fun and Games, had a hit record entitled The Grooviest Girl in the World on UNI Records. While still in Houston, Sam worked in advertising sales for KILT radio. Later Sam moved to Austin, Texas and became an integral part of Austin, Texas and an integral part of Austin's famed 6th Street by opening one of it's most popular clubs, Anchovie's. Anchovie's was the perfect venue for a live rock'n'roll dance band, so Sam brought together some of Austin's finest musicians and founded Duck Soup in 1984. Today, the band still holds true to its roots by playing classic dance music - focusing on those incredible 60's - but not failing to remember the best of the 40's, 50's, 70's and 80's - along with an original tune or two. Duck Soup is known as the premier party band of the United States. Duck Soup travels nationally and internationally in performing for private parties, conventions, and corporate events. They have formed an affiliation with the PGA Tour and perform at 10 PGA tournaments yearly, holding the title of the Unofficial Band of The PGA Tour. It is not uncommon at these Tour stops for the likes of John Daly, Peter Jacobson, Mark Brooks, Fuzzy Zoeller, and many other Tour regulars, to play to their musical handicaps by joining the band on stage. When Sam is not performing on stage, you're most likely to find him doing what he loves best . . . playing golf!
